“Working in the healthcare field has been something that I have always been interested in. Helping others, whether clinical or behind the scenes, has always intrigued me,” says Vladimir Barthelemy, Medical Staff Coordinator at MetroWest Medical Center.
Vladimir believes his family influenced him to work in the healthcare field because he comes from a family that works in hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare agencies, and other healthcare organizations.
“My parents, grandmothers, aunts, and my sister would always tell me that working in the healthcare field allows you to provide and create positive outcomes in the lives of others. All the advice and wisdom I received led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in health administration at Regis College.”
An employee of MetroWest for one and a half years, Vladimir finds the ability to demonstrate creative ideas and strategies to be the most rewarding aspect of his career. “I can express what can be changed or added to my job. I value being detail-oriented. I pay close attention to detail. I love to present work that is professional and 100%. Another reward is being able to learn each day. The healthcare field allows me to gain more knowledge and grow professionally,” he explains.
Vladimir’s father Frantz Barthelemy also works at MetroWest Medical Center in the transport department. He loves that he gets to see him during work. “My father is always motivating and keeping me strong. It’s an honor to share the same place of work with him. He is one of my role models and has shaped me into the young, educated Black man I am today.”
Vladimir’s most memorable experience while working at MetroWest Medical Center was his last day working in the Emergency Department. The nurses, staff members, and coworkers put together a special “Thank you” celebration for him for all his hard work as a Patient Access Representative in the ED. “I had no idea they would plan something so special for me. I was surprised but very thankful. It meant a lot to me. It’s a day that I will never forget.”
When Vladimir is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, running/walking, listening to music, watching YouTube videos and helping his parents and older adults when needed.
