FRAMINGHAM – Framingham has a long, rich history of serving the public by signature health institutions such as Cushing Hospital and Framingham Union Hospital, the Framingham TB and Heart studies, a prestigious nursing school and dedicated non-profit agencies addressing critical health care issues.

The City of Framingham public health department has played a vital role as a key stakeholder within this group, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to mitigating the spread of diseases and delivering services to enhance the well-being of community members.

The new City of Framingham Public Health office & clinic at 188 Concord Street provides a professional space to continue this tradition.

This new space includes a resource lobby, nursing office with a State certified childhood vaccination clinic, a multi-purpose conference/training room, and improved office space and reception area.

The public is invited to tour the new office and clinic at 188 Concord Street on Tuesday May 7th, 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“The City of Framingham’s Health Department plays a vital role in our community supporting not only physical healthcare, but mental health and environmental health,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. “The Health Department’s impact reaches far beyond just medical care; it serves as a cornerstone of support for the well-being of every resident. Through innovative programs, proactive initiatives, and collaborative efforts, the department ensures that Framingham remains a place where all facets of health are prioritized.”

“The Framingham Health Department delivers top-notch inspection, community health, and disease prevention services, all while advocating for healthy lifestyles and the attainment of optimal health for our residents,” said Framingham Health
Director William Murphy. “Through collaboration with local organizations and community members, we aim to create a supportive environment that promotes wellness and disease prevention. Together, we can continue to build a healthier
Framingham.”

There will be light refreshments, historical pictures, and departmental staff highlighting our role in promoting health within the City.

The City of Framingham purchased the 4-story office building adjacent to the Memorial Building in 2023. The Health Department moved into the first floor space in March 2024.

The open house was scheduled on May 7 to coincide with National Nurses Week. This year’s theme, “Nurses Make the Difference,” honors the incredible nurses who embody the spirit of compassion and care in every health care setting.”
