Helen I. (Meleedy) Kelly, 91, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Sunday, October 29, 2023 after a period of declining health. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late William J. & Gladys (Sherman) Meleedy, and the beloved wife of the late Walter W. Kelly.

Helen was raised and educated in Belmont. She was a graduate of the McLean School of Nursing, Boston College, with post graduate work at Harvard University. Over the years, she worked at McLean Hospital, MA General Hospital, as well as the Commonwealth of MA Departments of Corrections, and Mental Health.

She loved animals, show tunes, and peaceful walks on the seashore, but her passion later in life was traveling the world with her husband Walter.

Helen was truly the matriarch of the family that she loved so much. She is survived by her children, Irene Monty, Thomas Kelly, Susan Madden, her grandchildren, Holly Varrichione, Renee Hruska, Viviana Kelly, Danielle Kelly and Erin Moore, her great grandchildren, Colin, Emma, & Lillian Hruska, Cameron Moore, and Cody Cavaco, her siblings, David P. Meleedy of Amesbury, and Maureen Reardon of Quincy. Besides her husband Walter, Helen was predeceased by her brother, William J. Meleedy Jr.

Family and friends will honor and remember Helen’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday, November 3rd from 9:30 – 11:30AM.  Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
