The family of Ruth Ward Bloch, 96, of Southborough, Mass. sadly announces her passing on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. Born on Valentine’s Day in 1927, she grew up in Providence, Rhode Island but spent most of her adult life in the Greater Boston area where she and her late husband, Richard M. Bloch, successfully, memorably and largely with good humor, raised a combined family of seven children.
Ruth was a kind and gentle woman, a great listener, a fan of the New England Patriots and a lifelong lover of Cape Cod. She was known for her fashion and decor sense and her brisket was the stuff of legend.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Debbie Ellingwood (Bill); her son Richard Bloch (Diana); and her stepchildren Charlotte Johnson, Larry Bloch, Emily Martin (Peter), Susan Bloch-Nevitte and Kathy Bloch-Swarts, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Monday, September 18th from 4-8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning in St. George Church, 74 School St. Saxonville at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery.
