Joan E. (Craig) Schiavi, 83, of Framingham, MA passed away, surrounded by loved ones on June 22, 2023

Joan is remembered by her loving family, including her son Robert Scott Thistle and Jo-Ann C. Schiavi as well as her grandchildren Christopher and Max Thistle and her great grandson Max.  She also leaves her sister Marcia T. Mckenna and her husband Jim along with her loving nieces and nephews and many special family friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Vincenzo “Jim” Schiavi, her sister Ann Marie Cook, her brother William A Craig, and nephew Michael Mckenna.

Joan was born on August 30, 1940, in Arlington, MA to John Craig and Rosanna Cunningham.  She dedicated many years as an office manager at Saint Tarcisius Parish in Framingham.  She also had a variety of management positions that spanned throughout the medical field in Framingham.

She was quite the adventurer who enjoyed exploring quintessential New England towns and coastal communities.  She loved seeking out Antique shops, Fairs, Museums, beaches, and especially unique pottery stores.  Mattapoisett MA, Ogunquit ME and Vermont were among her favorite places to visit.

Joan’s wit and sense of humor made her the life of every party.  Family and friends always looked forward to her jokes and funny stories.  An event was always more fun when Joan was there.  She had a passion for animals, especially her dogs, who brought so much joy to her life.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Cape Ann Animal Aid or an animal shelter of your choice.

In keeping with her wishes, she will be celebrated privately by her family.

Arrangements by the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home of Framingham.  To share a memory with the Schiavi Family, kindly visit www.mccarthyfh.com
