FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University women’s lacrosse team closed the regular season Saturday, April 29, with an 18-10 loss to Westfield State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field. 

Framingham State drops to 107 overall and 52 in the MASCAC

Westfield State remains undefeated in the Conference at 7-0 and improves to 12-5 overall.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Owls opened the game with a 4-0 run including a pair of goals from Cassidy Connolly, but the Rams got on the board with an unassisted goal from Regan Fein and trailed 4-1 with just under nine to go. 
  • The Owls pushed the lead to 7-1 with just under five to play, but the Rams were able to close the gap to 8-3 after goals from Rachel Erickson and Hannah Guerin in the closing minutes. 

  • The Rams cut the deficit to 8-4 after a goal from Leah Green in the opening minute of the second.  

  • The score remained 8-4 until the Owls used a 5-1 run in the final 6:29 of the second quarter to extend the lead to 13-5. The Rams final goal of the half came as time expired from Erickson. 

  • The Owls tallied four goals in the third period to push the advantage to 175. The Rams opened the fourth with three straight closing the gap to 17-8 before Connolly pushed the lead back to 10 with just under seven to play.  The Rams added goals from Erickson and Fein down the stretch to reach the final margin. 

  • Alexis Burleigh took the loss in net for the Rams and did not make a save, while Isabella DiMare made six saves in relief. 

  • Kara Banagan earned the victory for the Owls and made 14 saves. 

  • Erickson finished the game with four goals for the Rams, while Guerin finished with two and an assist. 

  • Emma Crettella paced the Owls with six goals and two assists, while Cassidy Harvey finished the day with three goals and two assists. 

 

UP NEXT: Both teams will be back in action next week during the MASCAC Tournament with brackets announced later today.
