FRAMINGHAM – The Rykbost family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Marcia Rykbost.
The long-time Framingham, Massachusetts resident passed on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Bridges by Epoch in Sudbury after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Marcia was born in Needham, to Helen and James Ruane on August 24, 1943.
Marcia graduated from Marian High School in Framingham and from Chamberlayne Junior College.
She worked as a secretary at the Natick Labs where Robert was stationed in the army. They met at a USO dance in 1961 and have been together ever since. For 10 years, Marcia and Robert had a cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and spent many fun times there with their children.
Marcia had a long and successful career as a secretary and eventually an Executive Assistant and Security Officer. Marcia was given the prestigious Cogswell Award for her work as a Security Officer at Bird-Johnson Company.
Marcia was a member of the Framingham Garden Club for 14 years and served as President for 2 of them.
She volunteered at St. George’s Church and St Vincent De Paul.

For 25 years, Marcia and Robert belonged to a square-dancing club where they made many friends and had the opportunity to travel. Marcia had a special gift of hospitality and was an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends in discussion over the dinner table. It is those moments and her loving kindness that will be sorely missed.
Marcia is survived by her loving husband, Robert of 59 years of Framingham, son David and his wife Sandra Rykbost of Hudson, daughter Linda Mitchell of Auburn, son Michael Rykbost and his better half Joanne Bolanes of Framingham. Joanne was also Marcia’s caregiver for many years. Marcia also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jennifer Remillard and her husband Matthew of Millbury, Melanie Grieco and her husband Nicholas of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, Travis Mitchell of Auburn, Luke Rykbost and Isaac Rykbost of Hudson, and great grandchildren Wesley Remillard and Zoey Grieco along with Joanne’s children Alycia
Bolanes and Zachary Bolanes and his partner Jess and grandchildren Trent, Cole, Levi and Adrianna. She is also survived by her brothers James Ruane of Centerville and Paul Ruane and his wife Barbara of Centerville, and sisters Elizabeth Ruane of Marlborough, and Catherine Horowitz and her husband Robert of Virginia along with many nieces and nephews.
Visting hours will be held at the Duckett Funeral Home at 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury on Sunday, May 7th from 2 to 5 p.m.
The funeral will be held at St. George’s Church at 74 School Street in Framingham, MA on Monday, May 8th at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
