FRAMINGHAM – After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Jeff’s Place’s Compassion with Passion Spring Gala will return to the Pine Brook Country Club this month. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on April 29, 2023, in celebration of Jeff’s Place and the support they provide to grieving individuals and families throughout Massachusetts.

The night will begin with a cocktail reception including passed hors d’oeuvres, before transitioning into a celebratory dinner.

The much-anticipated silent and live auctions, where trips, sports memorabilia, golf outings, and more will be up for grabs, will round out the evening.

All proceeds raised throughout the evening will help Jeff’s Place continue to offer life-changing grief support services at no charge, including their newest initiative, GriefMOVES.

GriefMOVES began in 2020 after the transition to online learning and quarantine forced bereaved youth into sedentary lifestyles that deprived them of their physical outlets to alleviate the big emotions that come with death loss.

GriefMOVES prioritizes movement and mindfulness to restore this outlet and address the physical and mental challenges of loss through neurobiological methods of education and interventions that strengthen the mind-body connection. Jeff’s Place hopes to expand the immensely successful initiative by creating a new studio dedicated to movement and mindfulness.

“In Massachusetts, one out of 15 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18,” notes Jeff’s Place Founder Dr. Jenny Kaplan. “Jeff’s Place is a haven of healing and hope for many bereaved individuals and families in our state. We are eagerly looking forward to the Compassion with Passion Gala to celebrate the profound impact of Jeff’s Place on the lives of our clients.”

Throughout the evening, several clients will take the stage to speak about their own experiences dealing with grief at Jeff’s Place.

Attendees will hear from both a family and a youth who turned to Jeff’s Place for help coping with the loss of loved ones.

Former Jeff’s Place Board Member and Treasurer Wayne Janelle will also be honored at the gala. Janelle worked tirelessly at Jeff’s Place for eight years and was instrumental in assisting with the incorporation process and establishing the accounting and financial reporting systems.

The Compassion with Passion Gala will be emceed by Janet Wu, Boston-based anchor and reporter for Bloomberg.
