FRAMINGHAM – Richard J. Erickson, long time resident of Framingham, formerly of Natick, passed away suddenly on April 13, 2023, his 89th birthday. 

He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Lucciarini) Erickson for 64 years. 

He was the loving father of Elizabeth Shea, son-in-law Jack, of Reading, MA and Stephen Erickson, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, of Tampa, FLA. He was an adored grandfather of Katelin, Michael, Brian and Christopher Shea, Jeffrey and Kyle Erickson. Richard was predeceased by his parents John (Emil) and Signe Erickson, sister Margaret Day and brothers Henry, Robert and Carl Erickson.

Richard was a graduate of Natick High School where he enjoyed playing football.

He served in the U.S. Army in both Korea and Japan. He was a member of the distinguished honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery where he had the privilege of guarding The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. 

His professional life was spent working in engineering at the United States Research and Development Labs, Raytheon Technologies and Waters Associates.

Richard’s happiest days were spent along the shores of Chatham, Naples, Duxbury and Ogunquit.  His annual deep sea fishing trip with family and friends was a favorite event, always with great stories. Coaching little league baseball and following the sporting events of his grandchildren also brought him great joy.

A celebration of Richard’s life will take place privately.
