BABSON PARK – The Framingham State University softball team was defeated 4-2 in the opener but rallied for an 8-3 victory in game two over Babson in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Alumni Field.

Game 1:
- In the opener, the Beavers got on the board first on an RBI single from Kate Karamouzi in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Beavers pushed the lead two with a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Lexi Morris.
- Moira O’Reilly cruised through the first three innings for the Beavers as she held the Rams hitless with eight strikeouts.
- Brooke Grassia opened the top of the fourth with a single to right field. After being sacrificed to second, Grassia came around to score on an RBI double to right by Gwendolyn Carpenter. Carpenter came home with the tying run on a Talia Duca RBI single to center.
- The Beavers retook the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs.
- Olyvia Mendonca took the loss in the opener going six innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
- O’Reilly earned the win going six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts.
- Carpenter and Grassia finished the game with two hits apiece.

Game 2:
- In game two, the Rams got on the board first on an RBI single from Carpenter in the top of the first, but Babson answered with a run in the bottom of the frame tying the game 1-1 after one.
- The Rams plated four runs in the third opening up a 5-1 lead. Makayla Rooney and Carpenter plated runs with singles and Kelsey McGuill added a two-run single up the middle.
- Babson plated single runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth to cut the deficit to 5-3, but the Rams scored three in the top of the seventh to reach the final margin. Grassia tripled home a pair of runs and scored on a Rooney single.
- Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going sevne innings allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts.
- Grassia, Carpenter, McGuill and Rooney each finished the game with two hits and two RBI.
UP NEXT: The Rams are back in action Thursday when they host UMass Boston for a pair of games beginning at 3 p.m.
