FRAMINGHAM – A rally to support the Brazilian community was held in downtown Framingham tonight, April 10
Organized by State Rep. Prisciila Sousa, the rally was attended by about 75 individuals, including Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.
Many in the Brazilian community, as well as downtown business owners, were upset after a violent road rage incident in March, in which a Marlborough woman physically assaulted a Natick woman, who is Brazilian.
City Councilors Janet Leombruno, George King Jr., Michael Cannon, John Stefanini, and Leora Mallach attended the event, as did District 7 School Committee member Tiffanie Maskell, District 8 School Committee Jessica Barnhill, and District 9 School Committee member William LaBarge.
City of Framingham Chief Diversity Officer Jessie Edwards and Framingham Public Schools Assistant Superintendent for Equity, Diversity and Community Engagement Tiffany Lillie were in attendance, along with at least three of the public school district’s principals.
Rep. Sousa, Mayor Sisitsky, City Council Vice Chair Leombruno all spoke, as did the victim Raissa Fernandez of Natick, a mom of two.
