FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University baseball team erased a 5-0 deficit and scored 11 unanswered runs as the Rams defeated Rivier University 11-6 in non-conference action at Bowditch Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Rivier tallied five runs in the top of the first inning opening up the five run advantage. 
  • The Rams began to chip away at the lead in the bottom of the third with three runs. Ryan Boyle got the Rams on the board with a two run homer to center and Matthew Shaver added an RBI single. 
  • The Rams tied the game with two in the bottom of the fourth on a Shane Costello RBI base hit and a sacrifice fly from Boyle. 
  • The Rams took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. Evan Kirkpatrick doubled in a pair and Costello added an RBI single. 
  • The Rams added three more in the sixth before Rivier tallied a single run in the top of the ninth to reach the final margin. 
  • Freshan Adam Martin earned the victory on the mound tossing six and a third innings of scoreless relief allowing just one hit with one walk and 10 strikeouts. 
  • Shaver and Kirkpatrick finished the game with three hits apiece, while Costello finished 4-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI. 

UP NEXT: The Rams are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Bridgewater State at 3 p.m.
