FRAMINGHAM _ Evelyn A. (Paquette) Gariepy, age 86, a longtime resident of Framingham, formerly of Leominster, died Thursday March 9, 2023, after a brief hospital stay.
Born and raised in Leominster, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and M. Irene (Looney) Paquette. She is also predeceased by her sister, Joan E. Sargent and brother Wilfred “Buzzy” Paquette Jr.
Evelyn was the beloved wife of 61 years to Roland Gariepy of Framingham; loving mother of M. Jane Folan and her husband Jeffrey of Walpole, MA and Michelle Wolpe and her husband Robert of Walpole; and cherished grammy to Eric, Brian, Christopher, Nicole and Matthew.
Evelyn graduated from Leominster High School in 1955 and worked in the insurance division at Leominster Savings Bank.
After marriage she devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She and Roland lived in Framingham for 55 years and were active members of St. Anselm’s parish in Sudbury for many years and later members of St. George’s Parish in Framingham.
She enjoyed being a Girl Scout troop leader and CCD teacher as well as volunteering for the Red Cross and the Framingham branch of the Salvation Army Feeding Program. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Sudbury Bowling League and the Wayside Athletic Club in Marlborough where she made some wonderful friends.
Evelyn loved traveling the world with Roland after his retirement, but she was happiest at home cooking and baking for her family, especially at the holidays. She loved spending time with family on Cape Cod each summer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Leanne, Laura, Kristen and Kleo of West River Home Care of Needham as well as Good Shepherd Community Care of Newton for their hospice services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10 am at St. Anselm’s Church, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury.
Visiting hours will be Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m.at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, (corner of Union Ave.) Framingham.
Interment will be private.
