FRAMINGHAM – Last weekend, the Framingham High dance team won the state title in the hip-hop category at the MSSA championship held at Framingham High,

Two years ago, the Flyers finished third and last year, the dance team took second place.

That victory, earned they a spot in the New England competition.

On Saturday, the Flyers will compete at the New England Regional Tournament at Bellingham High School .

Competition starts at noon. Tickets must be purchased online ahead of time.

“This year’s routine is focused on showcasing style and versatility, as well as opportunities to appeal to the crowd,” said Coach Angela Rodriguez.

The Flyers are led by captains Danielle Ribeiro , Lyia Young, and Johnna Maloney.

Other members of the squad are Sarah Andre, Gabriella Viveiros, Averi McAuliffe, Jess Lopez, Amber Podd, Taylor Pereira, Corrine Moschner, Amanda Da Costa, Olivia Tichnor, Makayla Beck, Meghan Walsh, Samantha Winterhalter, Ophelia Nugent, and Camryn Pereira.

“Our senior captains this year were incredible,” said the head coach. “They exemplified our team’s values in so many ways. They held everyone accountable for reaching our high expectations while creating an environment based on mutual respect, ongoing support, and a family vibe. They have played such a crucial role in the success of our team this year, both in our routine and within our team dynamics.”
