FRAMINGHAM – Ruth (Malsberg) Rosenthal entered into rest on March 9, 2023.

For 52 years the beloved and devoted wife of Milton, who died in 2000.

She was the only child of the late Anne (Musiker) and Jacob Malsberg and was born in Roxbury on May 17, 1924.

Ruth grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High for Girls.

She worked for Postal Telegraph, which became Western Union, for about ten years.

In 1946 she met the absolute love of her life, Milton, on a blind date. They were married in 1948 and their marriage has served as a shining example for the rest of the family. In 1953 Ruth and Milt bought a house in Natick, a wonderful town, to raise their daughter.

Ruth was the room mother and chaperone for all of her daughter’s class trips and baker for the class parties. She was an assistant Brownie leader, “cookie” mother for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, day camp counselor, avid knitter, cook and mah jong player. Ruth enjoyed hosting dinner parties and holidays. She always put love for her family first. She was an exemplary mother, mentor and role model. She coined the phrase “shop til you drop!”

Ruth and Milt were founding members of Temple Beth Am in Framingham. They donated generously so that a permanent building could come to fruition. Prior to that, services were held in the Unitarian Church in Framingham Centre.

Ruth worked as the secretary of Temple Beth Am’s Religious School for 38 years, retiring in 2004, at the age of 80! There she had hundreds of children and she knew all of their names! To Ruth this was not a job, but a time for her to extend her motherhood! Ruth was very active in the Sisterhood of the Temple and volunteered in many capacities.

She was not a complainer, instead was a positive upbeat woman who taught that love for family is what life is all about! The matriarch of our family, Ruth will be immensely missed but we will fill our hearts with her love, kindness and zest for life.

Outstanding mother and best friend to Joan (Rosenthal) and Nelson Zide. Devoted and loving grandmother to Sherry (Zide) and Steven Burke and Scott and Brandee (Butler) Zide. Most adored GiGi to Poppy Zide and Merida Burke.

We express our deepest gratitude to Ruth’s caregivers: Ramona Rodriguez, Zaynab Tholley, Maymuna Tholley, Hawa Bruce, Magdelene Yates and Janice Kiley. Their compassion, devotion and love allowed us to keep her in our home with us.

Ruth’s funeral service will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Temple Beth Am, 300 Pleasant Street, Framingham, MA 01701, with interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon MA 02067. Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Temple Beth Am.

Arrangements under the direction of Stanetsky Memorial Chapels.
