FRAMINGHAM – Today, March 9, the MetroWest YMCA will host its 7th Annual Marathon Community Breakfast, present their Inspiration Award, and recognize its supporters who are working to build healthy communities.

The Inspiration Award is presented to individuals who, through their amazing physical achievements, philanthropic work, and contributions to the running community, inspire thousands of people through their exceptional gifts of time and talent.

This year’s honorees are Susan Hurley, CharityTeams founder, Rick Muhr, Marathon Coalition founder, and William Evans, former Boston Police Commissioner.

“We are thrilled to honor these three individuals,” said Rick MacPherson, President and CEO of the MetroWest YMCA. “Collectively, they have run hundreds of marathons and supported thousands of people in many ways. In particular, this year, as it is the 10-year anniversary of the marathon bombing, we are recognizing individuals who faced adversity and used it to motivate themselves and strengthen their communities.”

The event kicks-off the MetroWest YMCA’s Annual Campaign. This year, the Y is focused on raising funds to support the local community’s increased need for its food distribution program, providing safety around water instruction, and youth leadership and workforce development programs.
