FRAMINGHAM _ The Framingham State University baseball team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Preseason poll as voted on by the league’s coaches.
The Rams claimed the sixth spot with 18 total points.
The Rams had six wins last season in MASCAC competition. Ryan Boyle finished the season batting .382 in 131 at bats. Boyle collected 50 hits including seven doubles, three triples and six home runs while driving in 26 runs. His .382 average ranked third in the MASCAC, while he was tied for fifth in home runs. His OBP of .438 and slugging percentage of .618 also ranked among the conference leaders.
Bridgewater State claimed the top spot in the poll collecting six first place votes and 48 points, while Westfield State slid into second with the remaining two first place votes and 43 points.
Massachusetts Maritime followed in third with 34 points and Salem State and Worcester State followed in fourth and fifth just one point apart with 29 and 28 points. Rounding out the poll in the seventh is Fitchburg State and eighth is MCLA.
The Rams open the 2023 season on March 6, when they travel to UMass Boston
