FRAMINGHAM – Jane F. (Whalen) Pitts, age 75, a longtime resident of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday February 18, 2023, after a brief hospital stay.

Born and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Lucy J. (Aucoin) Whalen. 

She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Pitts, who died in 2007.

Jane graduated from St. Mary High School in Waltham and then worked for many years at New England Telephone, later Verizon, from which she retired.

She enjoyed spending time with her sister, Colleen, at Oak Knoll and playing bingo with her friends.

She is survived by her sister, Colleen Whalen of Framingham, and her stepson, Gary Tobin and fiancée, Julie Nikoras, of Winthrop, and late stepson, Lawrence B. Tobin, of Las Vegas, NV. She was ”Grams” to Jennifer Tobin of Framingham, Jason Tobin of Framingham, Jeannine Tobin and her fiancé, Phillip Murphy, of Marlborough; great “Grams” to Christian Tobin of Marlborough, Jackson Murphy of Marlborough, Lilith Tobin of Framingham and Parker Murphy of Marlborough.

Jane leaves several cousins including Catherine Vermette and family of Manchester, NH, and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham

A burial will follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne, at 12:45 p.m.   

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
