FRAMINGHAM – Freshman Andrew Parnell had his best finish in the very last race of the season. He finished 10th in a field of 100 boy racers with a time of 24.58 just 1 second off the leader Baxter Jennings of Marblehead who was the league champion, said Flyers Alpine Ski Coach Roni Sue Bower.
“He was the second fastest freshman of the race. Andrew tore down the course as he went all out,” said Coach Bower. “It was quite impressive.”
On the girl’s side, senior Madi Jones finished 36th with a time of 26.87 and junior Maddie Rieder finished right behind her in 37th place with a time of 26.98, said the Flyers Alpine Ski Coach.
“It was a challenging week for the Flyers as they competed in 3 races,” said Coach Bower. “The first race of the week at Blue HIlls in the icy, deep rutted course was again treacherous.”
Only 58 boys completed the course successfully, out of a field of 98 including our boys.

“Our boys struggled as well due to a lack of experience,” said Coach Bower. “We never practiced at Blue Hills this season and had only raced there once before due to the lack of snow. Six of the 8 boys have never raced before this season so they will improve and gain more experience in the years to come.,”said Flyers Alpine Ski Coach.
“The girls made out a little better as they all completed the course,” said Coach Bower.
Madi Jones finished 29th scoring 20 points for the team and Maddie Rieder finished 32nd scoring 17 points.
“I am so happy with the overall success of our team this year. We are a very young team with only 4 experienced racers. The kids have already improved each race and there is so much potential for us as a team and as individuals in the future,” said Coach Bower. “The team also gets along great and helps and cheers each other on during practices and races. I am so excited moving forward.”

The other highlight this week the final race race was celebrating the seniors on the team – Madi Jones and Laila McIndoo.
“Madi has been with the team since her freshman year and she has moved up into the top 30. During the covid season all of the teams had the opportunity to race except for Framingham so with a missed season Madi has done an amazing job competing in her junior and senior year<‘ said Coach Bower.
“Laila also started her freshman year on the team and has worked hard every season to improve her racing skills. I am so excited that she earned points for the team this season. She has improved immensely,” said Coach Bower
The Framingham High Alpine Ski Team ended up scoring in all races.
“This was a first,” said Coach Bower.
‘The girls finished 10th in the MBSLE league finishing ahead of Oliver Ames and Duxbury High.
The Boys finished 11th finishing ahead of Westwood and just 4 points away from finishing ahead of Oliver Ames.
