NATICK – Theresa Rita (LaPorte) Dunn, 94,, of Natick, formerly of Northampton passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, NH on May 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Beatrice (Harnoise) LaPorte. Theresa was raised in Troy, attending local schools. She began her banking career in NH as a clerk before marrying Crawford E. Dunn.

Together she and Crawford settled in Northampton, where they started their family. Theresa became a stay at home mom while she raised her two sons until 1966 when she reentered the work force at Northampton Cooperative Bank. Over the years she dedicated herself to her career and rose up through the ranks retiring after a 30 year career in banking as an Executive Vice President.

Before her retirement in banking, Theresa went back to college to achieve a certification as an activities director at retirement homes for assisted living.

She worked for Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton as an Activity Director then transitioned to a Marketing assistant before ultimately retiring in her 80’s.

Faith was an extremely important aspect of Theresa’s life. Throughout her life she was a dedicated and active communicant at her parish volunteering much of her time to the church for the various events and causes throughout the years, also serving as a treasurer for the parish. As a woman deeply involved in the Northampton community, Theresa also served on the Board of Directors for the Northampton Chamber of Commerce and Northampton Senior Center.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Crawford E. Dunn in 1986.

Theresa is the beloved mother of Thomas D. Dunn and his partner Lisa, of Sturbridge, MA, and Stephen C. Dunn and his wife Laurel, of Natick. Adoring grandmother to Christina E. Seru and her husband Alan, of Natick, Kara D. Psathas and her husband Nicholas, of Franklin, and Matthew R. Dunn and his wife Ashley, of Essex, MA.  Great-grandmother to Theodore Brian Seru, Emma Christina Seru, both of Natick and Finnick Murphy Psathas, of Franklin. Theresa is also survived by her former daughter in law, Sharon Dunn.

Visiting hours will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, in Natick on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 4 through 7 p.m.

Funeral on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Church, 144 E. Central St., Natick at 10 a.m.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association: Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter (alz.org)
