FRAMINGHAM – Carolyn Mona (Madden) Reilly, 92, a long time resident of Framingham died February 6, 2023 peacefully in the comfort and care of her family in Milford where she resided for the past 5 years.
She was the first in her family to be born in a hospital on March 4, 1930, in Damariscotta, Maine to Louise Harriet Hatch Madden Bell and Walter Madden.
She lived in Jefferson Maine until 1942 when she moved to Framingham to live with her mother and stepfather, Elmer Wyman Bell.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Framingham, for 80 years holding roles as SS teacher, SS Superintendent, and Deaconess.
Married in 1952 to the late Thomas William Reilly Jr., they had four children, Thomas W. Reilly, III and his wife, Joan L. Reilly of Milford, Eric L. Reilly and his wife Karen Purdy Reilly of Marlboro, Alan C. Reilly and his wife Pamela Dillon Reilly of Upton and the late Bryan S. Reilly, husband of Maresa Reilly of Tewksbury. She is also survived by grandchildren, Christine Brown, Laura Reilly, Connor Reilly, Megan Reilly, Dillon Reilly, Erin Reilly, Nicole Reilly, Bryan T. Reilly and great grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Brown and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Charlotte Washer of Framingham, formerly of Holliston, Ma.
Carolyn was employed by the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham for 50 years “and 4 months” retiring when she was 85. She was a telephone operator and receptionist where she stayed connected with the ebb and flow of the community.
She loved engaging in conversation and hearing about her friends and growing family, she enjoyed camping, hosting parties, and hanging on to everything because it held a memory or had a possible future use…
Her family, friends and church family were her anchor.
Serving as the matriarch and nucleus of the family she hosted countless pool parties, birthday parties, holiday celebrations and tea parties. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and the memories of trips with her granddaughters shopping for Easter shoes. Let’s not forget the stories of her cutting heads off chickens for Sunday dinners.
Carolyn always met you with a smile and found the positive characteristics in people. Her legacy of “living an example of kindness and compassion” will forever live on in the one’s she taught and touched.
