FRAMINGHAM – Five new police officers joined the Framingham Police department, including one new female police officer.

Officer Morgan Whiton was administered the oath of office by City Clerk Lisa Ferguson in a ceremony yesterday, February 2, at the Memorial Building.

Officer Whiton comes to the Framingham Police Department after graduating from the 49th MPOC of the MBTA Transit Police Academy.

“Throughout the past six months, Officer Whiton has undergone extensive training learning to communicate with community members and de-escalate intense situations in the face of adversity,” said Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker yesterday. “Officer Whiton has developed a strong work ethic through her work and educational experience. She previously worked for the Essex County Sheriff’s Department in research and compliance where she learned the importance of attention to detail and about the inner workings of law enforcement.”

She holds a Master of Science degree in Homeland Security Studies from Endicott College. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting from Stonehill College.

Throughout her studies, Officer Whiton continuously worked through internships relevant to law enforcement to refine and apply her knowledge in order to prepare herself for this career, said Chief Baker yesterday.

She grew up in Middleton where she enjoyed being outside playing soccer and rugby while skiing and snowboarding on the weekends.

Officer Whiton always made it a priority to become involved in various community outreach and service programs. She developed her strong interpersonal skills as a proud “Big Sister” to multiple youth in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

These skills are sure to transfer to her interactions with the residents of Framingham, said Chief Baker.
