ASHLAND – Richard Huwe, 89, of Ashland passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, with his family by his side.

He was the husband of Susan (Thibodeau) Huwe for 40 years. 

Richard served his country honorably with the US Air Force from 1952-56 and then transferring to the US Army retiring in 1974 as a Chief Warrant Officer. 

He would later work several jobs over the years; including as a Guard at MCI Framingham, Fenwal Co. of Ashland, maintenance man at Fatima Shrine in Holliston and St. Cecilia’s Church in Ashland, and worked at WCG Enterprises in Holliston.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by four children; Debra Pitts and her husband Christopher of Arlington, Ann Marie Plante and her husband Michael of Northbridge, Christine Crane and her husband Edward of Wentworth, NH, and Mary Gomes and her husband Marc of Pompano Beach, FL, twenty one grandchildren, Trevor, Ashley, Taylor, Jordan, Savanah, Aubrey, Daniel, Mark, Zachariah, Noah, Samuel, Isaiah, Rebecca, Gabriel, Shiloh, Elijiah, Simeon, Hadassah, Marcos, Sabrina, and Jonah.  Richard was the father of the late Mark Joseph Huwe and brother to the late Joan Cooper and Carol Quilty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 54 Esty Street in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

There are no visiting hours.  Arrangements by Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
