BOSTON – Framingham High junior Abby Desmarais broke her own Framingham High indoor track & field record today at the MSTCA Coaches Invitational meet at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

The Framingham High junior won the 55-meter dash event in 7.18 seconds.

Desmarais broke her own 55-meter Framingham High record in the process, said Coach Chris Collins

The Flyers junior captain also qualified for nationals.

She has the second fastest time in the Commonwealth right now, said Coach Collins.

“I think she scares the heck out of opponents long before the gun fires – friendly, relaxed looking and even talkative,” said Coach Collins. “Then the gun fires and… it’s a bit like a friendly German Shepherd flipping to police dog mode – all business with no remorse.”

Coach Collins said she is the “easiest of athletes to coach.”

“She is selfless and will do whatever is needed for the team,” said Coach Collins. “Friendly to all with no ego, but with that calm confidence.”
