FRAMINGHAM – A Framingham elementary school principal, who has been in the district for almost 20 years, is a finalist for a principal post in another district.
“I recently learned of an interesting opportunity for a principalship in a nearby school district. Yesterday afternoon, I was named a finalist for this position,” wrote Potter Road Elementary Principal Larry Wolpe.
Wolpe was named Principal at Potter Road Elementary School in early 2018, and took over in the leadership of the school for the 2018-19 school year.
“I am incredibly grateful to have spent close to 20 years in Framingham, the better part of my career, and I have learned a tremendous amount from so many of the professionals, students, and families I have had the pleasure to work with and serve,” Wolpe wrote to families today, January 27.

“The new opportunity would provide me a chance to lead in a new building. I am interested in the challenges the move and working in a new school system would bring. The position, if I am selected, would begin next school year. I wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible,” wrote Wolpe to families today, January 27.
Wolpe did not name the school district.
Wolpe has been the Assistant Principal at Potter Road Elementary School in Framingham since 2012, before being promoted.
Prior to that, he was an elementary teacher at Mary E. Stapleton Elementary School in Framingham.
A graduate of Ithaca College, he earned his Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley University.
Potter Road Elementary lost its vice principal before the start of the 2022-23 school year. She made a lateral change to the New Bedford Public Schools.
