WASHINGTON DC – The U.S. Department of Agriculture said egg prices are up 267% since last year.

The cost for a dozen eggs ranges from $3.75 to $7.50, depending on the type of egg.

And while some say the cost is due to a Massachusetts law that protects chickens by mandating a certain type of coop, the main reason is the Avian Influenza.

The USDA said the Avian Flu killed more than 43 million egg-laying hens in 2022.
