ASHLAND – The Town of Ashland has promoted Matt Boland to the position of fire captain.

He is now the third highest ranking officer in the Ashland Fire Department, behind Fire Chief Keith Robie, and newly-sworn in Deputy Fire Chief Lyn Moraghan.

It was a standing room only crowd, for the swearing ceremony this morning, January 9, for Boland, Moraghan, and Kyle Marcinkiewicz, for lieutenant.

Ashland Town Manager Michael Herbert administered the oath of office to Captain Boland.

Boland joined the department as a fire alarm operator in 20002.

Two years later he became a firefighter/paramedic.

Later, he was the fire prevention officer for the department.

In 2015, Boland was made. a lieutenant.

Captain Boland is an instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Academy.

The Ashland Fire Department has one chief, one deputy chief, one captain, and 6 lieutenants, along with its firefighters.
