NEW BEDFORD – Five different UMass Dartmouth Corsairs scored goals as UMD defeated Framingham State 5-2 in MASCAC men’s ice hockey action Saturday evening in New Bedford.  

UMass Dartmouth improves to 4-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the Conference.

Framingham State Rams drop to 3-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Justin Weinbrenner got the action started midway through the first period and Sky Silverstein scored the Corsairs second goal of the game about 15 minutes into the first. 
  • UMD scored two more times around midway through the second when Vincent Nicosia and Jimmy Mettler each scored about a minute apart.  
  • Patrick Colgan got the Rams on the board a few minutes later heading into the third with the Rams trailing 4-1.  
  • UMD again scored seven minutes into the third period but Ethan Cervonayco converted on a penalty shot in the final moments for the Rams to reach the final margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • Daniel Davidson made 26 saves in the win for the Corsairs. 
  • Blake Carlson stopped 34 shots on goal in net for the Rams. 
  • UMD was unable to take advantage of the Rams 13 penalties going 0-for-12 on the man advantage.  
  • The Rams were 0-for-2 on the power play.  

UP NEXT: The Rams return to the ice on Thursday when they host Fitchburg in MASCAC action at 7:40pm at Loring Arena.
