FRAMINGHAM – Helen S. (Thomas) Byrne, 99, of Framingham and formerly of Milford died Tuesday morning (January 3, 2023) at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, after a period of declining health.

Helen was born in Roullet ND, the daughter of the late Oral Clyde Thomas and the late Susan (Traynor) Thomas. 

She attended public schools in Fairmount ND and also attended business school in Whapton ND.

Helen was first employed as a hostess at the former Union House Restaurant located in Framingham .

She later was employed as a receptionist at the Long Cadillac dealership located in Framingham.

And lastly she was employed in the housekeeping department at the former Radisson Hotel located in Milford.

Helen was a US Navy veteran having attained the rank of Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Helen loved gardening & was a great housekeeper. Her faith was very important to her and she had served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Elk’s Lodge in Framingham. She also had volunteered at the Milford Regional Medical Center during her retirement years.

Helen is survived by her 3 children: Catherine Evans and her husband Richard of Hingham MA, Alan Byrne and his wife Cynthia of Hampton Falls NH and Timothy Byrne of Pleasant Valley NY; also several nieces & nephews, including her 3 grandnephews: Jason Larkin, Ryan Larkin & Brady Larkin.

Helen was the mother of the late Patricia Wilson of Dallas TX who died in 2010; the sister of the late Harold Thomas of Fargo ND and the aunt of the late Barbara Larkin of Fargo ND.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. There are no funeral home visiting hours or funeral services.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to  the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, c/o 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN
