Brandi Carlile to Perform at Healey-Driscoll Inaugural Celebration Thursday

BOSTON – The Healey-Driscoll Inaugural Committee today, January 3, announced that 6 Grammy Award-winning artist Brandi Carlile will headline the inaugural celebration at TD Garden.

“I’m thrilled to be honoring two barrier-breaking women in Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll this week,” said Brandi Carlile. “As forces across this country try to sow division and anger, it fills me with hope to see women like them lead us forward with positivity and empathy. Their victories were decades in the making, and we know there is more work ahead – but now is the time to pause and celebrate this historic moment.”

“I’ve been a fan of Brandi’s music for a long time, and it is so special that she will be a part of our inauguration,” added Maura Healey. “Brandi’s music spans genres and explores themes of women’s empowerment, LGBTQ+ history, and the joy of community. I can’t think of a more perfect musician to bring us together for this celebration.”

Carlile is a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, performer, producer and #1 New York Times Bestselling author. She has released seven studio albums, including her most recent, In These Silent Days, which is up for another seven awards at this year’s Grammys.

Additionally, Carlile has collaborated with countless artists including Joni Mitchell, Elton John and Tanya Tucker and is a founding member of The Highwomen. Along with her longtime bandmates and collaborators, Phil and Tim Hanseroth, she is founder of the Looking Out Foundation, which amplifies the impact of music by empowering those without a voice, which, to date, has raised over $3 million for grassroots causes.

Carlile lives in Maple Valley, Washington with her wife, Catherine – whom she married in Massachusetts – and two daughters, Evangeline and Elijah. 

Healey is the first woman elected Governor of Massachusetts, and will be the first lesbian Governor in the country. Healey and Driscoll will serve as the first all-women state leadership team. The “Moving the Ball Forward” inaugural celebration will be held at TD Garden on Thursday, January 5th, 2023.

Doors will open at 5 pm and the program begins at 6 p.m.

The program will also feature performances by Todd Angilly, Boston Arts Academy students, the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus, DJ Frenchy, Abilities Dance Company, Witch Pitch, OOMPA, and SciTech, and will be emceed by Eddie Palladino.
