BOSTON – The minimum wage in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will increase to $15 per hour on January 1, 2023.

This is the last increase as part of a multi-step increase under legislation passed in 2018.

On Jan. 1, Massachusetts will raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, a benchmark activists have long pushed to meet the ever-growing cost of living.

The minimum wage in 2021 went to $13.50 per hour,

In 2022, the hourly rate increase yo $14.25 per hour.

As of 2023, the “service rate,” or the pay given to tipped employees will increase from $6.15 per hour to $6.75 per hour.

Massachusetts will be among the highest in America for an hourly rage come 2023.

Washington DC has the highest rate at $16.10 per hour.

Washington State has an hourly rate of $15.74 and California will have $15.50 per hour.

Several New England states are also increase, along with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Maine will move from $12.75 per hour to $13.80 per hour.

Rhode Island will increase from $12.25 per hour to $13.

Vermont will increase to $13.18 per hour up from $12.55 per hour.
