BOSTON – The Natick High girls indoor track & field team lost a close meet to Braintree High Thursday evening at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

The meet was tied 43-43 with a couple of events to go, but Braintree took the victory at meet’s event 52-48.

Redhawks are now 0-2 to start the season.

They lost to Brookline High 52-48 in the season opener.

Redhawk Lyla Sneed earned a team point finishing third in the sprint event. Her time was 8.11 seconds. Bridget Lee won the race in 7.87 seconds, with her teammate second in 8.10 seconds.

Lee also won the 300-meter race for Braintree in 44.46 seconds. Natick took second and third in the race. Eliza Campana was second in 45.46 seconds and Sarah Golden third in 46.65 seconds.

Zoe Waldron finished third for Natick in the 600-meter race. Her time was 1:46.95 minutes.

In the 1,000-meter race, Kendall Hacker finished second, in 3:28.59 minutes.

Natick’s Rowan Shumaker won the mile event in 5:50.93 minutes.

Braintree had a 31-14 lead headed into the field events, where the Redhawks performed well.

With a leap of 5 feet, Alyssa Peasley won the high jump. Redhawk Caroline Niedermeyer finished in second place at 4-feet, 8-inches.

Niedermeyer won the long jump event for Natick at 14-feet, 10-inches.

Francesca Samuel took third in the long jump.

Natick swept the long jump event, with Angela Leavey taking first place with a throw of 35-feet, 3-inches. Cricket Lemon was second at 33-feet, 2-inches, with Noa Weinhaus third.

Peasley won her second event of the evening in the 55 hurdles. Her time was 9.15 seconds. Redhawk Scarlet O’Keefe took third in 10.44 seconds.

Natick lost both relays.

However, Natick’s Alison Warren won the 2-mile event in 12;15.37 minutes.
