NATICK – In the season opener, the Warriors of Brookline High won a close battle with the Natick High girls track & field team at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston yesterday, December 15.

The Warriors won 52-48.

Brookline started the meet strong finishing 1-2 in the dash. Natick’s Lyla Sneed captured third place.

The Warriors won the 300-meter race but Natick finished second and third. Brook Spiegel was second with Eliza Campana third.

In the 600-meter race the outcome was the same, with Natick taking second & third place. Zoe Waldron was second with Kendall Hacker third.

After the 600, Brookline had an 18-9 lead in the meet.

Redhawk Rowan Shumaker finished second in the 1,000-meter race. Her time was 3:22.35 minutes.

With a time of 5:58.5 minutes, Natick’s Molly Curley finished third in the mile.

Alyssa Peasley won the high hurdles event in a time of 9.41 seconds.

Natick captured first and second place in the high jump. Peasley was first at 5 feet and Caroline Niedermeyer second at 4-feet, 10 inches.

Redhawks finished 1-2 in the shot put event. Angela Leavey won the field event with a throw of 33 feet, 11 inches. Cricket Lemon was second with a throw of 31 feet, 2.5-inches.

When Brookline won the mile relay, the score was tied 43-43.

The Warriors went ahead 48-43 with a win in the 800-meter relay

Even though Natick’s Alison Warren won the 2-mile race in 12:26.75 minutes, Brookline by finished second and third, captured enough point to secure the team victory.
