ASHLAND – Leila Mae Hanna, 86, longtime resident of Ashland passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, after a period of declining health. 

Born in Holliston, she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude (McQue) Sherman. 

Leila was the wife of James A. Hanna who died in 2021. 

As a young woman she worked as a secretary at Telechron Co. in Ashland; later leaving her position to become a loving and devoted homemaker for her growing family.

Hanna is survived by five children; Karen Lefter and her husband Gregg of Framingham; Sharon McLean and her husband William of Hopkinton; Susan Hanna Thomas of Ashland; Jamie Hanna and his wife Lenita of Ashland; and Paula Martin and her husband Greg of Westminster, 14 grand-children, 10 great grandchildren, and one brother Paul Sherman and his wife Pam of Oregon.  She was the mother of the late Peter Hanna who died in 1978.

A funeral service will be held Monday Dec. 19 at 11a.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 9:00-10:30am prior to the chapel service.
