FRAMINGHAM – The co-ed Keefe Technical wrestling team will open its season this Saturday, December 10 at the Ashland early bird tournament said head coach Mark Hamilton.

Wrestling is a no-cut sport at Keefe Tech, and 30 students have tried it and 22 are currently attending practices, explained Coach Hamilton.

“Each week athletes wrestle off to see who gets to wrestle in that week’s competition,” said the Broncos Head Coach.

The team has not selected captains yet, but one of the leaders of the team is senior Kevin Ribeiro.

This is his third year wrestling. He lost a year due to the pandemic. He was the Division 3 state champion runner up, said Coach Hamilton.

Joining him are three other seniors – Brandon Sosnicki (third year), Logan Convery (second season), and Gabriel McGarry (first season).

Besides Ribeiro, the other top Broncos returning to the wrestling program is junior Alex Mello.

Keefe Tech’s first home meet is Wednesday, December 14 against Boston Latin.

The team is co-ed this season as there is one lady on squad, who also is the starting pitcher for the Keefe Tech softball team and a star cross-country runner – Grace Arena.

Joining Coach Hamilton this season is Assistant Coach Mike Garret, who wrestled for Bridgewater State from 2014-2016
