SUDBURY – Mary Trumbo Ainsworth of Sudbury died peacefully on November 20 at the age of 91.

She was born October 29, 1931, in Grand Ledge, Michigan to Willard Trumbo and Myrtle Kingsley Trumbo. Her brother Don preceded her in death. She attended a one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade before graduating from Grand Ledge High School in the top ten of her class in 1949.

Mary married Harry (Ned) Ainsworth, her high school sweetheart, on September 12, 1953. They settled in Jackson, MI to raise their 3 children, later moving to Sudbury, MA. Mary and Harry lived in Dublin, Ireland, from 1980-1983 and enjoyed traveling abroad. They lived happily together until Ned’s passing in 2015.

Mary studied art at Michigan State University, deCordova Museum School in MA and the Phoebe Flory Watercolor School of NH. She was a member of the Sudbury, Concord, and Framingham Art Associations and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. An exceptional artist, Mary placed in many juried shows, exhibits, and workshops with watercolors, oils, and pastels. She loved art in all forms, sharing it with others and painting with art groups and friends. Her floral paintings reflect her love of gardening, and her landscapes reflect her travels and admiration for God’s creation. Mary was active in her church participating in EFM, healing ministry, choir, and book studies. Her angel paintings are displayed in the church each Advent season.

She is survived by children, Harry Douglas Ainsworth (Diana) of Wakefield, MA, Teresa Todd (Albert) of Annapolis, MD, and Marcus Ainsworth (Janet) of Sudbury, MA, and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her wit, spirit, intelligence, love and grace live on in them.

A memorial service will be held at St Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, Sudbury, MA in the Spring of 2023.
