FRAMINGHAM – The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Medal of Liberty was presented to the family of Private Maurice Goldstein on Friday, November 11, 2022, during the City of Framingham’s Veterans Day ceremony.

In total 10 medals of Liberty were awarded on Veterans Day in Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building, with five of the Gold Star families in attendance.

Goldstein was born in Framingham. He was drafted into the United States Army in March 1944 at Fort Devens.

Private Goldstein was attached to the Company D, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division.

Private Goldstein gave the ultimate sacrifice on November 20, 1944, when he died from wounds received in action in France in a hospital in Holland.

The City of Framingham will send the Medal of Liberty to his son, Laurence Reader, from LaQuinta, California
