NATICK – Firefighters in Natick extinguished a 3-alarm house fire this morning, November 9.

The fire was in a multi-family, 2-story structure at 11 Union Street.

Around 11:07 a.m., the Natick 911 center received calls for a fire at 11A Union Street.

When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and fire on the third floor, according to Natick Fire.

During the fire, the scanner indicted at one point that someone was inside the building.

Natick Fire, said in a press release, that initial 9-1-1 calls reported there were “possible occupants” in the building. And that “bystanders reported there might be occupants in the building.”

Natick Fire activated a second alarm and crews began an aggressive interior attack and search of the building, said Natick Fire.

“A primary search of the building revealed all occupants were out of the building,” said Natick Fire in a press release.

“Natick Fire Department along with mutual aid companies battled a 3rd alarm fire in a large single family home in the area of Westview Ave and Union Street.

“Crews faced heavy fire on the second floor and attic,” said Natick Fire on social media. “Fire has since been knocked down. All crews working overhauling.”

“Conditions in the building rapidly deteriorated and the second floor ceiling began collapsing on the fire crew,” said Natick Fire so all firefighters were ordered out of the building and a third alarm was called.

One firefighter was injured and transported by Wellesley EMS to Framingham Union Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Five individuals were displaced due to the fire – 3 adults and 2 children. The American Red Cross is assisting them.

Two dogs were rescued from the building by 2 bystanders, said Natick Fire.

The Fire is currently under investigation by Natick Fire, Natick Police, Mass State Police, and the State Fire Marshalls office.
