MILFORD – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing temporary daytime traffic impacts will be in place on Route 85 southbound in the area approaching I-495 in Milford on Tuesday, November 8, between the hours of 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. 

The traffic impacts are needed to support Massachusetts State Police crash reconstruction operations and will include a full closure of Route 85 southbound in the vicinity of the I-495 exit 50 interchange. Additionally, Route 85 northbound will reduced to one travel lane at this location.

Detours will be in effect during the reconstruction operations as follows:  

  • Traffic traveling on Route 85 southbound will be directed onto I-495 northbound to exit 54A (West Main Street) to reverse direction onto I-495 southbound back to Route 85 southbound. 
  • Traffic traveling on I-495 northbound looking to head south on Route 85 will be directed to take exit 48 (Route 109) and head westbound to Beaver Street/Fortune Boulevard back to Route 85. 
  • Traffic traveling on I-495 southbound looking to head north on Route 85 will be directed to take Route 85 southbound and follow the detour signs in place. 

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. 

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
