FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High School unified basketball team had its home opener yesterday, October 12.

The Flyers hosted Needham High in their second game of the season.

The Rockets won 64-50.

The game was close after the first period, tied 13-13.

Framingham is now 0-2 this season.

The Flyers lost their season opener to Natick last week.

A Unified Sports combines athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.

“It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding,” according to Special Olympics.

The Framingham unified basketball program is co-ed, and first began at Framingham High with the 2018-2019 season.

The next game is Tuesday, October 18 against the Timberwolves of Walpole High at 3:30 p.m. in Walpole.

The Flyers final home game is Wednesday, October 26 at 3:45 p.m. against the Tigers of Newton North High
