BOSTON – In the past month two Hurricanes, Ian and Fiona, have caused enormous damage and tragic loss of life in Puerto Rico and southeastern Florida.

Recognizing the growing need for assistance, Cardinal Seán O’Malley has asked that a special collection be taken the weekend of October 15/16, 2022 in all parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Funds raised will support the efforts of the USCCB Bishops Disaster Relief Fund, which will work through local Catholic Charities diocesan agencies. The money will meet needs such as clean water, food, shelter, medical care and aid in long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts. It also will support the pastoral and social needs of the Church in areas affected by the hurricanes.

Parishioners are asked to address their checks to their parish, with “Hurricane Relief” in the memo.

The Cardinal extends his gratitude to the parishioners of the Archdiocese who have a long track record of stepping up to help people around the world impacted by natural disasters.
