FRAMINGHAM – Sister Mary Ann Alves, CSJ, (Sister Menric), in her 81st year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, died Saturday, October 8, 2022.  Devoted

daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary (McDermott) Alves, and loving sister of the late Rev. Msgr. Joseph T. Alves, George M. Alves and Catherine Theresa Bryant.  Sister Mary is survived by her many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, many beloved friends, and her Sisters in the Congregation. 

Formerly missioned as a teacher at Our Lady Help of Christians School, Newton; St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Jamaica Plain; Fontbonne Academy, Milton; Matignon High School, North Cambridge; and teacher and Assistant Principal at Cathedral High School, Boston.  Sister Mary also tutored students in retirement.

Visiting hours at Holy Family Chapel, Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, 631 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA, Friday, October 14, 2022, 9:15 to 10 a.m.  Prayer Service at 10 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass and Prayers of Final Commendation at the Motherhouse at 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 990 Lagrange Street, West Roxbury.
