NORTH DARTMOUTH – The Framingham State University volleyball team opened Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Husson University before falling 3-0 to host UMass Dartmouth this afternoon in a non-conference tri-match at the Tripp Athletic Center. 

Framingham State 3, Husson 0 (23-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18) 

UMass Dartmouth 3, Framingham State 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-19) 

Framingham State is now 5-2 this season.

Husson is now 1-4

UMass Dartmouth is now 3-1

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Match 1 – Framingham State – Husson 

  • The Rams dropped the opening set 25-23 before taking the next three 25-22, 25-14 and 25-18 to secure the victory. 
  • Anna Szymanski paced the Rams on the attack with a team-best 15 kills, 14 digs and three service aces. 
  • Stella Bailey chipped in with 21 set assists, nine digs and four aces in the match, while Kiana Jones and Hailey Sanders chipped in with six kills apiece. 
  • Malia Shields paced the back row with 15 defensive digs and four set assists.

Match 2 – Framingham State – UMass Dartmouth 

  • The Corsairs defeated the Rams in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-19. 
  • Jones paced the Rams on the attack with eight kills, while Sanders chipped in with six. 
  • Emily Flaherty contributed seven digs, while Bailey finished the match with 17 assists. 
  • Carly Beaulieu finished the match with six digs, while Shields finished the match with 10 digs and two aces. 

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night when they begin MASCAC play hosting MCLA at 7 p.m.
