FRAMINGHAM – Armando Ramon Fernandez-Schliesske-Evans, 23, of Framingham, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 after a long struggle with mental illness and addiction.

He was beloved by his parents, Heidi Schliesske and Kim Evans; his birth parents, Aida Zayas and Juan Ramon Fernandez; his siblings, Devonte Wilkins, Joshua Ramirez, Jada Ramirez, Jaliyah LaSanta, and Damalis Gonzalez; his grandparents, Maryann and Jacinto Pimentel; his grandfather, Horst Schliesske; his niece, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Armando was born in Boston and came to live with Heidi and Kim in Dorchester at age six. The family moved to Framingham when he was 13. When he was doing well, no one could light up a room more than Armando could. He was smart, gregarious, and funny, and he had an infectious laugh that was truly irresistible. He loved people and he had an uncanny ability to make them love him back. He had an unbelievably generous heart, even as he suffered through his darkest moments.

He was an avid reader from a very young age and would devour books on just about any subject, often to the amazement of his parents. He was also a natural athlete with boundless energy. He loved rock climbing, hiking, camping, fishing – anything that would get him out in nature. But most of all, he loved to ski. He was a fearless backcountry skier and a member of the inaugural ski team at Framingham High School. He proudly called Sugarloaf in Maine his home mountain and spent countless weekends there honing his skills with his mother Heidi.

He had many other talents and interests as well — music, photography, videography, woodworking, karate, working as a bike mechanic, tuning skis, to name a few. He also loved theater and the creative arts and spent many happy summers at the Creative Arts at Park (CAAP) day camp in Brookline.

Armando’s struggles were heartbreaking – to him, to both of his families, and to everyone who loved him. His parents, his families, and all those who loved Armando, are shattered by the loss of him. He was one of kind and we will love him and miss him forever.

Family and friends will honor and remember Armando’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Thursday, September 8 from 4 – 8 PM.

His funeral services will be held on Friday morning in First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 24 Vernon St., Framingham at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery.

Armando’s family is setting up a memorial campership fund at Creative Arts at Park to help future campers who would otherwise not be able to afford the cost of attending his beloved summer day camp. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to the Armando F-S-E Memorial CAAP Scholarship Fund.
