BOSTON – Today, September 1, a Super PAC bankrolled by notorious education privatizers has entered the race for Attorney General in support of Andrea Campbell.

Funded with hundreds of thousands of dollars of special interest money, the Super PAC is up today with an ad ripped from the website of Campbell’s campaign

“Since entering the campaign Andrea Campbell has laid out the red carpet to outside money,” said Jordan Meehan, Liss-Riordan’s campaign manager. “She has repeatedly refused to disavow special interest money, and now the mega-donors who are hell-bent on expanding charter schools in Massachusetts have arrived to prop-up Campbell’s flagging campaign. This is the standard playbook for Andrea Campbell, who received millions of dollars in support from outside corporate interests in her failed bid for Mayor last year. Her tactics failed then and they will fail in this race. The only question now is will Andrea sit silently while special interest money pollutes our political system in her name or will she do the right thing and call for this Super PAC to stand down? I think we know the answer.”

This morning, WCVB released the latest public poll in the Attorney General’s race showing Liss-Riordan ahead of Campbell.

This latest poll, showing a 20 point surge for Liss-Riordan and paltry growth for Campbell, demonstrates that the momentum is solidly with Shannon Liss-Riordan for Attorney General.

“As voters are tuning-in to this race and learning about the candidates, they are thinking about who they want to represent them and be their champion,” said Meehan. “They are comparing Shannon’s experience and victories for working people over the last 23 years with Andrea Campbell’s anemic legal record and they are choosing Shannon, the candidate who has won half a billion dollars for working people and is widely recognized as one of the nation’s top attorneys.  Over the final days of this campaign we will be making our closing arguments, criss-crossing the state every day and meeting voters where they are.”

Also today, the Liss-Riordan campaign released a new television ad touting the endorsements of Senator Elizabeth Warren, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and former Boston Mayor Kim Janey.

The ad showcases Shannon’s unmatched record of delivering for the people of Massachusetts as a decades-long civil rights and employment attorney, and one of the nation’s top plaintiff lawyers.

Shannon is the co-founder of Lichten & Liss-Riordan, P.C which is a nationally recognized law firm that is dedicated to vindicating the rights of workers across Massachusetts and the country through class action and individual litigation. Shannon lives in Brookline, with her husband, Kevin, their three kids, Shane, Myles and Jordan, and their Airedale terrier, Logan.
