The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be conducting overnight construction operations at the Route 9 and Route 126 interchange in Framingham. The work will require the temporary overnight closures of multiple ramps at the Route 9/Route 126 interchange. 

During the week of August 28, two ramps will be closed each night, with closures finishing each morning and concluding on the morning of Wednesday, August 31. During each closure, a detour will be in effect. The closures and detours are outlined below.

  • Overnight on Sunday, August 28, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. two ramps at the Route 9/126 interchange in Framingham will be closed simultaneously: 
  • The Route 9 eastbound off-ramp to Route 126 (Concord Street) will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use Caldor Road and Cochituate Road (Route 30). 
  • The Route 126 northbound (Concord Street) off-ramp to Route 9 eastbound will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use Route 9 westbound and Cochituate Road (Route 30). 
  • Overnight on Monday, August 29, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. two ramps at the Route 9/126 interchange in Framingham will be closed simultaneously: 
  • The Route 9 westbound off-ramp to Beacon Street will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use Cochituate Road (Route 30). 
  • The Beacon Street off-ramp to Route 9 westbound will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use Concord Street/Route 9 westbound on ramp.

  • Overnight on Tuesday, August 30, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. two ramps at the Route 9/126 interchange in Framingham will be closed simultaneously: 
  • The Route 126 southbound on-ramp to Route 9 eastbound will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use the Concord Street ramp. 
  • The Route 9 eastbound off-ramp to Route 126 (Concord Street) will be closed.  During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place and use Caldor Road and Cochituate Road (Route 30). 

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. 

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
