FRAMINGHAM – Tonight is a first for the new City of Framingham.
For the first time, since Framingham became a City on January 1, 2018, the City Council was chaired by a woman.
City Council Chair Phil Ottaviani jr. had surgery last week, and could not attend the meeting in person. He did attend the meeting remotely.

Vice Chair Janet Leombruno chaired the meeting. This was the first time a woman has chaired a meeting of the 11-member City Council.
Leombruno is one of two at-large City Councilors on the 11-member legislative body.
During the first session of the City Council, both the chair and the vice chair were men. Dennis Giombetti was chair and current Mayor Charlie Sisitsky was vice chair.
During the second session of City Council, George P. King Jr was chair and Adam Steiner was chair.
