The City of Framingham has public beaches open today until dusk at Learned Pond, Lakw Waushakum and Saxonville Lake.

Cooling Centers with air conditioning and free water are available at the main Framingham Public Library, Christa McAuliffe Library branch and the Callahan Center.

A heat advisory has been extended through tonight.

The heat index could reach 100 degrees today.

2. There is no City Council meeting today and no City of Framingham meetings today.

The Council on Aging Board meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled.

3. The City Council Chair Phil Ottaviani Jr. and his wife Valerie Ottaviani, a District 6 School Committee member, are hosting a fundraiser for Lt. Governor candidate and City of Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll tonight.

5. Today is National Book Lovers Day. Book Lovers Day is celebrated on August 9 every year. The day encourage bibliophiles to celebrate reading and literature. People are advised to put away their smartphones and every possible technological distraction and pick up a book to read.
