FRAMINGHAM – Margaret M. (Cummings) Garcia, 81, a lifelong resident of Framingham died Monday, August 1, 2022 with her family by her side following a brave and lengthy battle with cancer.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Richard F. & Eileen (Byrnes) Cummings.

Margaret attended St. Stephen’s School, and was a member of the first graduating class of Marian High School. She went on to earn her associates degree from Mt. Ida College in Newton, after which she began her career as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines based in New York.

It wasn’t long before the wings of love came calling, and her 60-year love affair with her husband, David, took flight. They settled in Framingham in 1963, and raised their family.

She also had a rewarding second career as a medical secretary for Dr. Young at Framingham Heart Associates until her retirement.

Margaret loved gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling the world. She loved to entertain and host for holidays and birthdays and made everything that much more special with her care and creativity.

Margaret was the heart of her family, beloved by her dear husband David L., loving mother to her sons, David III of Framingham, Joseph E. & his wife Suzanne of Framingham, and Kevin R. & his wife Emma Brodie of Marth’s Vineyard, cherished grandmother to, Joseph R., Edward D., and Jessica K. all of Framingham, beloved sister of, Gail A. Cummings of Ashland, Paula Morris & her husband Dennis of Ashland, and the late Richard F. Cummings, Jr.

Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday August 4 from 6-8 p.m.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Road in Framingham on Friday morning at 11 o’clock.

Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
