FRAMINGHAM – Eversource has filed an Environmental Notification Form (“ENF”) for a sediment, soil, and groundwater contamination remediation project at a former Manufactured Gas Plant facility located at 350 Irving Street in Framingham.

The form describes measures that Eversource will undertake to remove the identified contaminants and achieve a permanent solution, as such term is used in the Massachusetts Contingency Plan regulations (310 CMR 40.0000).

The Project requires the filing of an ENF because certain state permits are required, including an individual 401 Water Quality Certificate from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental
Protection, and a related MEPA review threshold is triggered.

[broadstreet zone=”59948″]

Specifically, the Project exceeds a mandatory Environmental Impact Report review threshold because the proposed remediation work described in the ENF will likely alter more than one acre of Bordering Vegetated Wetlands, as per 301 CMR 11.03(3)(a)(1) and the proposed remediation work is located within one mile of a mapped Environmental Justice population.
